Dream interpreter

Describe the dream in your own words. The interpreter finds every symbol it knows in what you wrote and shows what each one has meant in psychology and in the Bible. It runs in your browser: nothing you type leaves your device.

How did it feel? (optional)

How it works

The interpreter reads your text and looks for the 1,200-odd symbols in this dictionary, from single words like “snake” to phrases like “teeth falling out”. Longer phrases win over shorter ones, so “being chased” is read as a chase and not as a separate “chased”. For each symbol it shows the short answer from the full article, how common the dream is when a published survey covers it, and a link to the psychological and, where one exists, the biblical reading.

What it cannot do

It cannot see your life. Two people who dream of the same flooded house may be reading very different things, and the interpreter has no way to tell them apart. It does not predict anything and it does not generate new interpretations: every reading you see was written for the dictionary, with sources. If it finds nothing, try naming the main object, animal or place on its own, or browse the dictionary.

Describing a dream well

Write what happened, in order, and include the setting and your feelings. Keep the odd details: the unfamiliar room, the person you could not recognize, the color. Those are usually where the readings differ. If you keep a dream journal, you can paste an entry here.

Questions

Is the dream interpreter private?

Yes. It runs entirely in your browser. The text you type is never sent to a server, stored or logged.

Is it artificial intelligence?

No. It is a lookup: it finds the symbols named in your words and shows the matching readings written for this site. It does not generate new interpretations.

Can it tell me what my dream means for my life?

It can tell you what each symbol has meant in research and in tradition. What the dream means for you depends on your life, which only you know.
